a bit of flickr frenzy

I have had a flickr frenzy for an image I created yesturday! never happen before that an image has spread so quickly! was even on the front page !
it came out on an assignment from the experimental art course Im doing, Amelia asked us to play with paper, cutting and constructing and of course I had to use my vintage book pages, she showed some examples and this is what came from me. I know its not a new idea and Ive seen things like this before but I love how effective it is!I must try some more little scenarios out . might make a nice little series of greeting/postcards ??
a few more drawings appeared as well and I started preparing some pages for a little art book idea, I will share tomorrow if it gets any further along.

Gosford park drawing!

On the recommendation of my lovely blogging friends I brought a copy of Gosford park yesterday.
I loved it ! whilst watching I put pen to paper and let it flit about, above is the results.
Bearing in mind I want to make some dolls based around this era and style I think thats where my mind was going as I drew.
I have plans to make a lady and a maid as an experiment and see where it leads.
Their body parts are lying on my desk as I type and hopefully this evening will become whole!!!
Its been so lovely to discover Im not alone in my enjoyment of Upstairs Downstairs! more to come for me as it repeated every weekday on TV! maybe a DVD box set will have to be purchased as well!!

weekly drawing 14th march

This weeks drawing is another from the huge handed man. The kingfisher looks so stiff and upright, almost dead, but its alive and well.

Friday Drawing upload

Here is this weeks installment of my now weekly drawing project!
Its really lightened my load to not be worring about a drawing a day, this week Ive wanted to do lots of sewing and its been fun to just sew and not feel guilty for using my time the way I want!

Seems really silly to get stressed about somthing so lovely as creating, but when you have very little time to create it does get difficult spreading your time over all the different activities I like to do!
Im hoping that some weeks many drawings will naturally acure and other weeks one will do nicely.

The feather is something Ive been wanting to draw and sew for a while, maybe its lite relief from my people obsessed other drawings or maybe its about looking closely and working out from there, I keep thinking about wings now and how the would really attach to a human body??? maybe that's the next drawing?

Daily drawing friday montage 31st Jan - 5th Feb

This weeks daily drawing installment! bit rushed this week, still seem more inclined to look at faces just for practice but its helping me to see I really do have a style.
The last image of the man holding falcon is a new series brewing, Ive asked hubby to pose over the weekend for some photos for me to sketch from ( he said OK!) so we will see what comes of that.

Still have 3 large canvases all drawn up with the seamstress series....still to frightened to start(also haven't really had much time- or long periods of time) I know its an excuse but i really feel i need at least a few hours to start painting and I only seem to get 1 hour bursts ! I know I know im just stalling.......

Been doing lots of sewn pieces this week, will post some of the others in a bit xxx

the first of my daily drawing posts

Here is the first of my weekly posts with 6 selected drawings from this weeks daily drawing practice!
Ive decided to just share 6 each week
A- because it looks nice like this
B- because it gives me the freedom to do more than one a day or none if i cant get to a piece of paper!
C- its a nice way to review work at the end of the week and showing them together like this may mean i see links i wasn't aware of !
all shots were taken in different lighting states but i don't mind, its quite interesting to see how they look next to each other.
I am defiantly trying to look at human figures as well as my bird love, I want to really push my style and free up my creative juices, so I stop worrying whether or not it looks like a person or if its something my school art teacher would like !!!!! because thats not always a good thing!
Im very happy with this weeks progress, roll on the next 51 weeks!! xxxx

Inspired by Cathy’s end of year mosaic I have compiled my own, I was feeling the need to reflect on my work ready to move forward into the New Year. Thanks to Cathy for great inspiration and a fantastic link into the wonderful world of Flickr.
Over the last few months I have been more productive than in 10 years, It has been exciting to explore ideas quickly for a change. I am still struggling to except that I work better on mixed media pieces and I need to let go my obsession with painting as an exclusive medium and develop ideas and techniques further.
New year plan
2010 to be the year of direction.
Daily sketches, Focused on the figure and scenarios.
More sewing, developing ideas and small projects
Collaboration with Claire Pickles on a textiles project……watch this space.
Continue to do what ever takes my fancy!
Maybe try to sell a little more so as to fund my projects (but not get stressed about it!)
It has been a great year for me in many ways, but certainly creatively its been the best for a very long time, more of this please, roll on 2010 xxx
